The Kray Twins
The Kray Twins, Ronnie (1933-1995) and Reggie (1933-2000), ran The Firm which dominated London’s crime world for most of the 1950s and 1960s. Officially the Krays ran a number of fashionable nightclubs, in which they mixed with celebrity and showbiz customers, but most of their wealth came from armed robberies, protection rackets and arson. In 1969 they were convicted of the murders of two other gangsters, Jack “the hat” McVitie and George Cornell. Ronnie died in prison in 1995. Reggie was released in 2000 and died three months later.
